In his first independent exhibition following the closing of his downtown venue in June, longtime Portland dealer Mark Woolley has assembled a very talented group of 17 photographers in a three week exhibition entitled, “portraits". The show is dedicated to the life and work of Terry Toedtemeier, a gifted photographer who for over 20 years lovingly built the photographic collection at the Portland Art Museum. He died in December of 2008 while signing copies of his new book, Wild Beauty: Photographs of the Columbia River Gorge, 1867-1957 in Hood River. In addition to the work of Toedtemeier, which Woolley selected in consultation with his widow Prudence Roberts and dealer Jane Beebe of PDX Contemporary Art, the show is a virtual “Who’s Who” of veteran and up and coming talents on the photography scene in Portland, with two invited artists from Los Angeles*
