William Park      4 + 3  2007

Park recently wrote this dedication:

"Her spirit and enthusiasm for life have been a constant inspiration. This work is about that spirit: the extraordinarily ordinary joy of life. Life is Change. Painting is the act of making changes. Looking for the extraordinary through continuous ordinary acts."

William Park was born in 1945 in Oakland, California and is very well known to Portlanders for his numerous public art commissions and projects. These include the recently completed public mural in downtown Portland, developed with New Avenues for Youth and Outside In. He has also worked with youth at the innovative p:ear program in downtown Portland and runs an extensive printmaking studio with classes adjacent to his primary painting studio near the Wonder Ballroom in NE Portland. He has had two prior shows at Mark Woolley prior to 8 years showing with Portland's AUGEN Gallery. His work is in many public collections, including the City of Portland, Tacoma Art Museum, OHSU, University of Oregon and others.
